MY FATHER
THE HASH KING
MY FATHER THE HASH KING is a two-part documentary series that follows the rise and fall of Jan 'The Peanut' Falize, a legendary hash dealer from the 80s and 90s. His son, Will Falize, guides us through his father's world of power, money and violence. Will gives an honest look at how growing up in this environment affected his childhood and family relationships, and candidly shares the challenges and pain points that shaped his life.
Together with director Ruud Lenssen and producer Julius Ponten, Will worked on the script, made for Videoland, in which factual information and emotional depth go hand in hand. He filmed the interviews himself, so that the viewer gets an unfiltered, almost intimate perspective on this world. With this personal approach, the documentary not only provides insight into the splendor and chaos of the hash trade, but also into the human stories and sacrifices that often remain hidden.
